I've heard there's a way to downgrade from WMP12 to WMP11? I've also been told to install - the person who suggested it hosted the file for me, but it did not work with my 64-bit version of Windows. I've also tried the running sfc /scannow, but that didn't work.

I've just tried your third solution, and while it's helped my PC boot up a little bit faster, the WMP problem has not changed.
